About Us

Housing Partnerships is a nonprofit that believes every person deserves a home that is safe, warm, and dry. HPI provides emergency homes repairs to families experiencing disability or low- to moderate-income situations. Through a variety of programs, HPI works to create true partnerships with families and local agents to alleviate local substandard housing.

Position Description

Housing Partnerships seeks a passionate and creative individual to support communications efforts. This internship provides excellent opportunities to develop and apply marketing and communications skills across a variety of platforms while building a foundational knowledge of nonprofit operations.

Responsibilities

The Communications Intern will:

  • Manage social media presence, including Facebook and Instagram
  • Maintain and update website content as needed
  • Design marketing and reporting materials, such as graphics and flyers
  • Assist with production of monthly newsletter
  • Produce and distribute media alerts and releases through local news outlets
  • Support outreach initiatives with community partners, donors, and volunteers
  • Collaborate with staff to identify ways to boost impact through communications channels
  • Attend weekly meetings with supervisor

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Firm knowledge of social media platforms and tools
  • Ability to professionally communicate with press and community contacts
  • Literate across a variety of computer programs; Microsoft Office suite a must, graphic design software such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, or Canva a bonus
  • Basic understanding of WordPress
  • Previous position or related experience in marketing or communications preferred
  • Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines while remaining organized and detail-oriented
  • Effectively self-motivates and prioritizes projects
  • Enthusiastic about community engagement and committed to furthering HPI’s mission of alleviating local substandard housing

Details

Start date: January 29th, 2018 – April 27th, 2018

Hours: 6-8 hours/week with flexible scheduling. Expected to be in office once a week, 4 hours/week are able to be completed remotely

Compensation: This is an UNPAID/Volunteer internship position.
